How it began

It all started in 1886 in Atlanta, USA, when pharmacist Dr. John Pemberton created the iconic beverage. From a local thirst quencher to a global brand, Coca-Cola is now known by 98% of the world's population and is available in over 200 countries. Coca-Cola entered Sweden in 1953, and since then, the drink has been a clear favorite.

Coca-Cola goes sugar-free

In 1983, Coca-Cola light was launched in Sweden – the first new variant of Coca-Cola since its inception in 1886. With its sugar-free and calorie-free formula, it quickly became popular among those who wanted to enjoy a tasty drink without added sugar. From autumn 2018, the drink was renamed Coca-Cola light taste to more clearly reflect the lighter cola flavor.

Coca-Cola Zero makes its entrance

In 2006, Coca-Cola Zero took the world by storm and quickly became the largest sugar-free drink on the market. In Sweden, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar was launched in 2007 with a new recipe that makes the taste as close to Coca-Cola Original Taste as possible. The goal is to give consumers the freedom to choose Coca-Cola – with or without sugar.
